Great camera even when compared to 40D
To read this article, please note that the Canon 50D and D90 are not in the same class and are aimed at different markets but there are many people, myself included, similar to our mind the price difference is relatively modest. The Canon 50D is compared to the Nikon D300, but since the D300 is clearly a better camera, no sense. The 50D is in fact, halfway between the D90 and D300. That said, I hope you find my comments useful.

I suggest you go to a local shop and hold both houses, play and get a feel for them. Will soon realize that the D90 feels cheap and plastic. The 50D has a magnesium alloy and feels safe. It really feels like a high-end camera. The 50D is also closed, unlike the D90 again. Build quality is extremely important to keep in mind. I also find the location of buttons and menus are simpler than the Nikon.
